La pinta hostel bogota colombia12/3/2023 There is ample bike storage and a few good bike shops within a kilometer of the hostal. The internet is incredibly fast and stable, so if you are working while traveling this is a good option for you. The Hostal is located in the Chapinero barrio which has so great clubs, if you're into that sort of thing, or if you are more like me near a few yarn stores to work on some crocheting projects in your downtime. The place was quiet while I was there but it was the slow season so YMMV, but the reasonably priced large private rooms will be just for you if you need some alone time. Always there to help you find some food, the next place to check out, or just be a friend to have a conversation with over a beer or whisky. Throughout my lengthy stay I felt like a member of the family of those who work there. La Pinta is a wonderful hostal filled with the most friendly and welcoming to all staff. Easy and convenient transport to old city center by public transport (~2500 COP one way), but 30+ minutes each way.… Lots of noise from the nearby busy road woke me up at 6. So, not much to see or do unless you want to do things you do at home (cinema, eat pizza, etc.). Neighborhood is safe according to the internet, but residential with lots of nice (read: not budget friendly) restaurants. Common areas included a bar area, kitchen and reception area that was like a living room with a desk. Was kind of an odd vibe overall, possibly due to few guests. There were hardly any people staying here. Note that not all staff, even at reception, speak English so it is best if you have some Spanish skills. Quick and reasonably priced laundry service. Lockers for each dorm bed included a lock, but not all locks worked. You have to buzz in to get into the building and doors, even for dorms, were locked with a key provided to guests. Staff was friendly and for the most part tried to help out when asked. It appears you can pay to have a more extensive breakfast (due to cards with price lists and breakfast items). When I arrived at the kitchen, no one said anything or explained how it worked, and I was in a rush to leave so didn't attempt to take advantage of the breakfast options. Breakfast appeared to be cereal and a small fruit plate, but I am not sure. Bathroom ceiling was incomplete, but didn't appear to be under construction you could basically look up to the attic. Even so, there seemed to be a question about whether I paid the right amount. Thankfully I had asked for and kept my receipt. When I checked out, there was some question over whether or not I paid. La Pinta is run by Colombian backpackers for international backpackers.
